Please forgive the off subject of building thread and into playing.
I have now built 12 guitars which were good enough for delivery to other folks (many more not good enough for others, even free)Problem is, until recently, couldn't play even one song. Makes it hard to build when don't know what listening for, so have to depend on others for comments as to sound and all of that.

Well I have an 11 year old grandson who is becoming extremely good, and when here for a week on spring break, taught me to play the old Kansas song "Dust In the Wind". He can play a solo version of it he learned from listening to an OK player Edgar Cruz CD. I have been paying for his guitar lessons as his mom is a singel parent One and prevelent reason wanted to learn to build and repair, so talented kids can learn when dont'have money for instrument. More of a personal thing which has turned into full time project, which I love. Beats daytime TV, and chasing bad guys. He plays a 12 fret cocobolo with slothead neck I built (seen on Bob C's in parts wood site)
Anyway learning now with video from Homespun Tapes, and Stefan Grossman(grandsons other hero, who he listens to and learning from CD as he goes along) He wants to go to a college and learn from the programs they have. OKC University has a classical program, but was wondering about others. Do you have to be recommended, audition and accomplished player to get in? I know he is only 11, but I and he would like to know now what some of the qualifications are so he can work on it. Time goes fast. I may be predjuiced toward him, but others are amazed at his ability at his age and only at it a 1 1/2 year or so. This is from teachers who have heard him and my dad who is an above average player(guess where Kolton got his ability, sure not from me)Want him to keep on track and music appears to be a natural for him, as he stuggles at it some, but more he has to struggle at a piece, the more it seems to drive him.
On a building question. I am going to build a classical and hopefully take some classes in addition to Robbie's video to do so. Grandson wants one to use when he goes to more things than steel string and he likes to play on the classical I bought a year or so ago. I noted in another thread aware Martin and Taylor (sure many others) make nylon stringed guitars, but they are not classical. They have regular bridges with pins etc. What is the bracing for them. Are they fan like classical or X like steel string, but smaller?
